Product Range Developer

The Range Specialist at TrueSubstance is the “Curator of Integrity.” This isn’t a typical retail buying role; it’s a position that requires a deep respect for biodiversity, nutritional science, and market trends. You are responsible for ensuring that what sits on our shelves—from heirloom wheat to ancient millets—is the best version of that grain available in the country.

The Mission

At TrueSubstance, our stores aren’t just selling flour; they are selling a solution to modern nutritional gaps. As the Range Specialist, your mission is to design a high-performing product range that converts traditional “slow-food” wisdom into a modern retail format. You will decide what stays on our shelves, what new “Slomilled” innovations we launch, and how we curate a range that solves real problems for our customers—from the perfect rotis to specialized gluten-free needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Portfolio Strategy & Development
  • The “Core & Beyond” Menu: Develop and manage the primary product list (Heirloom Wheat, Ancient Millets, Pulses).
  • Functional Innovation: Lead the creation of proprietary “Solution Blends” (e.g., Low-GI Atta, High-Protein Flour, or Weight-Management Mixes) by working with nutritionists.
  • Occasion-Based Range: Curate seasonal or festival-specific ranges (e.g., Vrat flours, winter specials like Bajra/Makki) to keep the store relevant year-round.
2. Range Performance & Analytics
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Constantly evaluate SKU performance. If a product isn’t moving or doesn’t meet our “Integrity Standard,” you are responsible for retiring or reformulating it.
  • Consumer Insights: Spend time on the store floor. Listen to what customers are asking for and translate those “pains” into new product launches.
  • Space Productivity: Determine the “Store Layout” for products. How do we display our range so it tells a story of health and transparency?
3. Benchmarking & Quality Standards
  • The Gold Standard: Define the taste, texture, and nutritional benchmarks for every product in the range.
  • Competitor Mapping: Keep a pulse on the “health-food” and “organic” retail landscape to ensure TrueSubstance remains the pioneer in the “Cold-Pressed” category.
  • Packaging Interface: Work with the design team to ensure our packaging effectively communicates the Substance and Slomilled benefit of each specific product.
