The Store Manager at TrueSubstance is more than a retail supervisor; they are the “Brand Custodian.” This role bridges the gap between our artisanal milling process and the modern, health-conscious consumer.
The Mission
At TrueSubstance, our stores are not just points of sale—they are educational hubs for nutritional integrity. As Store Manager, you are responsible for orchestrating a seamless “Milled-to-Order” experience. You will lead a cross-functional team of Millers and Sales Associates to ensure that every customer walks out not just with a bag of flour, but with a deeper understanding of what they are eating.
Key Responsibilities
1. Order & Queue Management
- The “Milled-to-Order” Workflow: Orchestrate the live queue. Balance walk-in customers with pre-orders to ensure the milling station is never a bottleneck.
- Omnichannel Fulfillment: Manage and track orders coming in via WhatsApp, phone, or the web. Coordinate local home-delivery logistics to ensure “milled-today” freshness reaches the customer’s doorstep.
- Special Orders: Handle custom requests for specific grain blends or grind textures, ensuring the Miller receives clear, actionable instructions.
2. Billing & Financial Integrity
- POS Mastery: Own the Point of Sale (POS) system. Ensure every transaction—from a 1kg bag to a bulk subscription—is recorded accurately.
- Payment Reconciliation: Manage daily cash flow and digital payment reconciliations (UPI, Cards, Wallets). Ensure zero discrepancy between physical stock and digital sales records.
- GST & Documentation: Oversee the issuance of correct tax invoices and maintain digital records for audit readiness.
3. Operational & Inventory Rigor
- Stock Synchronization: Use data to predict high-demand days. Ensure raw grain inventory is always sufficient to meet the “Order Management” pipeline without overstocking.
- Waste Tracking: Monitor “milling loss” and packaging waste, implementing strategies to keep margins healthy.
4. Customer Experience & Education
- Brand Storytelling: Lead the floor by educating customers on why “cold-milling” and “TrueSubstance” matter.
- Issue Resolution: Act as the final point of contact for any billing errors or order delays, resolving them with a “customer-first” mindset that builds long-term loyalty.
Who You Are
- Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable with modern POS software, inventory apps, and WhatsApp Business. You believe pen-and-paper is for journals, not for billing.
- Operationally Sharp: You can manage a milling queue of 5 people while simultaneously checking an incoming delivery of 200kg of grain.
- Detail-Oriented: You notice if a price tag is missing or if a digital invoice has the wrong GST rate.
- Experienced: You have 3–7 years of experience, ideally in a high-footfall premium environment (Organic retail, high-end cafes, or boutique grocery).
